Been a While
Well, its been a while since I've posted on here. Since 2008, and my first day back at school, I've since completed my Certificate Program, and have just finished my fourth year teaching. I not only received my Temporary Certificate, but have already received my Professional Teaching Certificate. I started out teaching 8th grade Law, then moved to my children's school, and taught 3rd/4th/5th grade Writing/Social Studies, and then this past year, I moved to 6th grade where I taught Language Arts/Social Studies. I also taught Drama/Musical Theater, and directed my students in a full production of Hairspray, the Musical. They were great! Next year, I will be teaching World History and Earth Science - 6th grade, and will continue to teach Drama/Musical Theater. I can't wait! I've only finished my second week of summer break, and I'm already looking forward to going back to school!

Classes are in Full Swing
Well, not much updating here because classes are going strong and there's a lot of work to be done. But, I did complete some really great projects recently, like a powerpoint presentation in French and a new blog for homework assignments. If you want to see my new blog its www.scrappyknitgrrrl.blogspot.com. I've become quite the knitting addict lately, so figured I'd start up a blog to share those projects!
I did my first day of student teaching yesterday. I'm in a second grade class, which is great because my son is in second grade. So, the morning was going really well. I had just finished reading a story to the class, when overhead they announced the school was going into a lockdown! My sponsoring teacher told me that I'd better try to leave immediately if I wanted to get out anytime soon. So, I grabbed my purse and ran for it. With my little guy in pre-school, I was afraid that I'd be stuck there for hours and there'd be no one to pick him up!
I go back on Friday and I'm really looking forward to it!

Back to School
I'm SO excited!! I received my acceptance letter yesterday for school. After many, many years I am going back to school! I've enrolled in a certificate program for mid-career switchers who want to become teachers. So, its official, I am going to move from being a lawyer to a teacher.
I start classes in January and can hopefully finish the program quickly. I'm hoping to sub next fall and then pick a up a full time job the following year. I can't wait to start!

Petrograd in Transit signed to Wise Owl Records
My little brother Lucien's band was signed to Wise Owl Records.
Wise Owl Records latest news:"In other news, we've picked up another band. Petrograd in Transit is another post-rock band, but not just another post-rock band. These guys have got it for sure. I'll be putting up their bio and release sometime in the next few days, so until then, you'll just have to wait in eager anticipation. It will be worth it, I promise."

This is an altered paint can that I created for a charity event. I used Chatterbox papers and assorted ribbon from MM and Lil' Davis and some other companie that I can't remember. The center hole in the lid was created using the MM Grommet Tool. I had to hammer quite a bit to make the hole in the metal lid, but it worked! I was thrilled and the grommet was easy to set in the middle of the hole. It came out great. The paint can itself was clear plastic with metal top an bottom. I purchased it at Starbucks. It came with a coffee cup that you could decorate yourself inside.

My Pen Storage
Check out these GREAT pen display holders that I purchased from my local Rag Shop that was going out of business for $10 a piece. When I bought them, they had ugly price stickers all over the back of both of them. I used plan rubbing alcohol (thanks Naomi for the tip and the elbow grease helping me to get them clean) to get the stickers off, then cleaned them and dried them completely.
I then cut some pretty patterned paper to fit and adhered it to the back of each using a few glue dots in strategic locations around the edges and seams where they wouldn't show.
Voila, my new pen storage!!!
